What is the best way to start a CWT dive with a monofin? The usual duckdive seems to be not so practical. As the armstroke brings the arms down to the legs, and then the arms need to be lifted again to form the arrow behind the head. But without armstroke some momentum is missing at the beginning …

Hi Vero, yes you are correct, the arm-stroke helps getting a good start but you will have to bring again your arms back above your head.
If you practice a bit you will be able to duck dive without having to make the stroke with your arms (check this short VIDEO).
Note that there are a number of deep freedivers who prefer to dive with their arms along their body, so they can do the regular, more efficient duck dive and then simply leave the arms there along their legs.
I hope it helps!
